Dear Friends,

Thank you to the Sisterhood Board, members, Rabbi Ely Rosenzveig, President Gary Waller, and the congregation for supporting the Anshe Sholom Sisterhood. Special mention goes to Ruth Grayson for serving as Chief Financial Officer, Shoshana Fayon for her work in acquiring our sukkah and chairing our Annual Dinner, and AnnBeth Cohen for her help with just about everything that Sisterhood does.

In September we dedicated the new Myerson Sukkah and held our annual Shabbos dinner in the sukkah. Other fall events were our Annual Dinner honoring Ellen and Elliot Kracko, the Lord & Taylor Shopping Day, and a poetry discussion led by Wendy Goulston. Laura Rothman again made us latkes for the Sisterhood general meeting in December. Barbara
Davis, the New Rochelle Historian, spoke to us about the history of Jews in New Rochelle; Elaine Mittelgluck coordinated this January event. In March we had a second Bikur Cholim discussion and viewed the movie The Mitzvah, led by Janet Waller. Priscilla Goldberg brought us together in April to hear Simon Jeruchim speak about his experience of being hidden in France as a child during WWII. Sisterhood participated in the blood drive that was directed by Ruth Grayson.

The Sisterhood lost two very dear members this year, Adele Bernstein and Sylvia Rivka Holan. We remember them fondly and thank them for all their contributions to Sisterhood and the shul.

The Bikur Cholim Committee, led by Ellen Kracko and assisted by Janet Waller, continued to perform this wonderful mitzvah by helping us take care of each other.

Our Annual Dinner honoree this coming year will be Constance Levi. Constance has given so much of her time, energy, and knowledge to our shul, and we are so pleased to honor our friend. Mark your calendar now and plan to join us on Sunday, September 14!

Have a wonderful summer!

Merle Myerson

Interested in Joining the Sisterhood Board?

We are looking for members to join our all-volunteer board and who are willing to help with Sisterhood and our shul. We meet once a month on Tuesdays (alternating meeting times between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm). No experience is needed, just a desire to contribute your time and energy to make a difference in our congregation and in the Jewish community. We have events and activities planned throughout the year with special events for the holidays. Anyone interested is invited to sit in on our board meetings. For more information, please contact Merle Myerson, Sisterhood President, at myersonm@optonline.net or leave a message at the shul.
